MTC Ball (8-29-17)
HELLO EVERYBODY!!!! Its my first p-day and im nearly done with my first week here at the mtc! and i LOVE IT. The new building is amazing. The murals are sooo beautiful and cool! IM so grateful that i have my classes in the new building. Its pretty nice here because we basically have our schedules planned out for us. Its about 50/50 here when it comes to food. Sometimes you get somethin good and sometimes you dont. The chocolate milk and maple bars are the BOMB. Ive decided to stop eating desserts and drinking chocolate milk because i dont plan on sending pictures of me looking fat. Misisonary Kort = healthy Kort. Speaking of being healthy...I LOVE MTC BALL. the no dunking rule really kinda kills my vibe though. I dont have an opportunity to show off my hops heheh But for real exercise time is so nice. takes away the awesome stress of the mtc and makes me feel at home.
Ive seen soooooooooooo many people i know here! Grant ellison, who just left for nashville yesterday, was my zone leader! we went to high school together and had a few classes. for those of you who dont know he is a jr. college baller so of course we were on the same team and of course we DESTROYED. Well he destroyed. One game he made 4 threes in a row and no one else on my team touched the ball. but its all good. that was the only game it happened. the rest pf the games i balled it up. For all of my Hollister people, logan sowards is on the same floor as me! he lives on the opposite side. Us english speaking missionaries call that side china town because it is full of chinese speaking missionaries LOL we've picked up a little bit of chinese hehe. Jared Crimm is also on my same floor! we played football together in high school! he lives in china town. Ive also seen Jake edvanston. (i think thats how you spell his last name...) But we were friends growing up! we were even baptized on the same day! hes actually really short lol couple inches shorter than me. Kind of a surprise but still so good to see him!
i was truly blessed when i first arrived here at the mtc. within a minute of me arriving here i walked up some stairs with my host and ran into isaac holtry :') as continued to my residence hall i saw logan sowards!! BLESSED. Ive also seen logan weaver, konner gibson, cade cope, brennon coleman, bridger simonsen, and some kid i went to efy with like 5 years ago. there are probably a few people ive missied out but i trully feel blessed to have seen them.
My companion is a great kid. and i say kid for a reason LOL he looks like hes 16 and acts like he is 13. he plays with spoons, trying to get them to stick to his nose (he may have gotten the idea from me) but he went at it the whole second day we were here lol I feel im a little more mature than him, surprising? hehe HOWEVER im soo glad he is my companion! he's got all the key scriptures memorized. I'll give you and example of something that happened this last monday. We had our 2nd and last TRC of the day. TRC's are where we teach our investigators. But we started off with some small talk and thats where i shined because our investigator was from california and lived near san jose! he had heard of hollister and he had been there too! so i connected with him there. But as we got into our lesson, the restoration, he through a little curve ball and wanted to know about what we could and couldnt eat/drink. So we taught about the word of wisdom! and as we taught don, our investigator, would ask question and my companion was able to answer them all along with sharing a scripture relating to them. IT WAS AWESOME. there is no way i would have been able to answer those questions the way my companion did. The spirit was there!!!
I love my district! We honestly have some super awesome people in ours. I love the guys in my room! half of them are farm boys from idaho/wyoming while me and the other 2 elders are from nice parts of utah/california. so i get the best of both worlds because i wish i was a cowboy but im not. Im a city folk. We talk and laugh and have such a good time together!! 2 of the elders in my room wrestled! They are the idaho boys. One of them is my companion who i could easily take, the other one, elder jones, i dont know...
Shout out to my mom for the packages and letters!! I get the most out of anyone in my room and it makes the other elders jealous hehe ALSO shoutout to the Lawrences for sending me the Krispy kreme donuts! they were soooo good and my roomies were very happy as well. Have a great week everyone! I love being a missionary and am excited for what lies ahead!
